I was fortunate enough to get a call to cover N Power’s training day for local school Moorhead Primary this week, and found out that an appearance was being made by none other than Derby County’s very own John Brayford and Paul Green. The training session went swimmingly, and I was reminded how cold it was to wear P.E. outfits in winter! John and Paul were great with the kids, and all had fun.
The lovely Natalie, owner of the three salon-strong empire Harvey Luke contacted me a few weeks ago regarding a Matrix training day she was holding in her Oakwood salon. Little did we know at the time that this would soon turn into a fantastic day for all with the likes of Jodie Marsh making an appearance filming for her new Channel 5 show! One of the models being used for the training day and subsequent shoot was Derby’s very own Zoe James – winner of the 2010 Miss Derby beauty pageant. She was herself being featured within the Channel 5 program that Jodie Marsh was hosting and therefore they thought it would be great to see where Zoe herself comes to get her hair cut!
There was so much buzz for the whole day, and we could not have been more pleased with the final five images. Massive thanks to all who took part – the stylists, the make up artists, models, Christian Wiles for his tutoring and of course Harvey Luke for organising the event. Please do check out their salons at http://www.harveylukehair.co.uk and the final images below!
Last night I was invited to photograph Derby’s very own Dominic Burns’ new film “How to Stop Being a Loser” starring Simon Phillips, Gemma Atkinson, Martin Kemp and Richard E. Grant. What was even more exciting was the world exclusive trailer of Dominic Burn’s new film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme: U.F.O. before the film begun! I felt rather lucky to have witnessed it only months after the filming of the Derby-based thrill seeker had come to an end. Photo below is of director Dominic Burn and the film’s leading lady Gemma Atkinson of Hollyoaks fame.
Figa approached me after I’d done her sister’s shoot last year (she still holds the record for bringing the most clothing to a shoot – 4 suitcases!). Figa herself is an established DJ with an impressive list of venues where she’s performed. She came to me asking for something completely different: something that showed off her personality whilst paying homage to fashion from the 40′s and 50s. For such a feat, I called in the assistance of Vanessa from Style by VV. She provided outfits and props that proved to be essential to the shoot’s look. For make up, I could not help but call upon Sali of Ms. Moo Make Up, who has helped me with some of my favourite latest shoots! And for hair, another of my regular ladies: Emma of Chasing the Dragon. All performed spectacularly, as you will see from the images below. Thank you ladies!
My very first Sikh wedding was approached with a strange mixture of excitement and anxiety. This was a whole new experience for me. Six times the amount of guests, more bling then you can shake a stick at and an array of colour I didn’t even know existed!
The whole experience lasted four days, and involved a lot of reportage with minimal posing – certainly not what I was used to! But I loved it all. Sure I was tired by the end of Sunday, but wow, what an immense atmosphere. Certainly shall be doing more Asian weddings in the future! Here’s a selection on images from the day:
